The Birds of Bellwoods have been through Oshawa before and not just a flying visit. The TO folksters have played full gigs including their most recent Oct 15 at the Moustache’s Sunday Series. Its a treat to see a young band develop, in this case from a spruced up roots a la Mumfords ’n Sons to a tougher Modern Rock take, (albeit still with acoustic elements and hovering harmonies). Its a sonic sally similar to the road taken by the Strumbellas but the Birds travel differently. Their ride boards; there is something of the skate-rat in their live sound, a skate-rat in a tweed vest and well pressed pants yes sure but they are skinny well pressed pants. These Birds are hungry, they put the work in and rock out. They are ready it seems now to swoop on and take off.
