Debby Friday releases anthemic dance pop '1/17'

Will McGuirk March 20, 2025

By Will McGuirk

The rave returns with Polaris Prize winner Debby Friday’s new blip-pop dance track which is all shimmering synth-y Ibiza build-up and yes the ecstasy of the beat drop . Titled ‘1/17’ the video was shot at Massey Hall so thats a whole other level.

“It’s based on an amalgamation of two experiences that I had. The first was when I won the Polaris Music Prize at Massey Hall, which felt like a peak moment in my career. The second was when, nine months later, I played a festival show to absolutely no one in the audience.” - Debby Friday
