OK it's going to get loud Oshawa, like real LOUD ! This is one fab week of metal and rock across the decades with bands from the 00s, the 90s, and the 80s all rolling in.
First off its Death From Above 1979 at the Biltmore Theatre Thursday Nov 9 2023. Although just two dudes, this band is mighty heavy. They have been on again, off again since their debut ‘You're a Woman, I'm a Machine’, in 2004. Their most recent album, their fourth, ‘Is For Lovers’ came out in 202. The show is presented by the Music Hall and is their farewell show to the city. Local loud two piece Mellohoney open.
On Friday Nov 10 it's one heck of a local show with Cancon metal icons KiLLeR DWaRfS celebrating their 40 year anniversary also at the Biltmore Theatre. Word is that former members of the band will join the present members for some tracks so yes please. Opening will be another local legend Darren James Smith Band. Smith has played with Harem Scarem, Durango 95 and Blind Vengeance. Sierra Levesque is also on the bill. So yes it's more than a reunion, this is a showcase of Oshawa’s metal heritage and of course you already know I’m claiming Heavy Metal got its start in Oshawa so yah really excited for this one.
But there’s more, B.C. alt-rockers, Econoline Crush, are at the Biltmore Saturday Nov 11. They formed in ‘92, there have been line-up changes with lead singer Trevor Hurst still at the forefront. They are touring their latest album ‘When the Devil Drives.’ Our pals Excuses Excuses open as does Cobourg rockers Nitetime Drive.
At the home of Loud, (aka the Atria) on Friday its Bad Sally, Gaijin Smash, Babys First Pistol, and Stress Dolls. On Saturday Bad Sally return and are joined by GFU, featuring Matt “Groopie” Bergman, rockabilly duo Sick ‘N’ Vicious, and singer songwriter Brandon Richard. That's a good line-up actually. Worth checking out.
