No city but Bakersfield and no colour but blue Johnny 99 gets his honkiest and tonkiest on new track ‘I Wanna Go with My Boots On’. 99 is John Sponarski, guitarist for City and Colour and he is joined by multi-instrumentalist Matt Kelly, bassist Erik Nielsen, drummer Leon Power, fiddler Kendal Carson and Georgia Harmer on backing vocals. Before C&C Sponarski was one half Portage and Main. I’m just guessing but on the strength of these songs I’ thinking he was the Main one.
