“Like all my albums, we recorded Donlands mostly live in the studio with my band The Situation [Dan Mock, Kyle Sullivan, Alan Zemaitis] in a circle—no headphones, just listening and existing, breathing as a whole. To me, it’s a record that lives in its own world.” - Jerry Leger
“Pain is a hard thing to let go until you’re ready. And that’s kind of where I was at with this record. Music, for me, is a release – it’s a place where I can go and express what it is that I want to say.” - Kevin Drew

Today in the city a neighbourhood mourns a family shot dead. On the other side of town a young boy squeals with delight and rushes to greet his father coming home carrying a package of food from a mobile charity kitchen. This is a city with all its horror and all its hope.
“I heard the not so distant screams
That broke the silence of a summers eve
But Soon all those kids will leave
And we'll be here just listening, not listening.”
“'Blind Spot’ asks listeners to consider their own blind spots, both when they have felt unseen and unheard, and all the diverse voices that are currently muted in popular culture.” - Andrea Nixon

Its the rock, and its the roll. Its the morning roll, the every morning roll of the rock uphill, the rock which rolled back down overnight. Its the inevitability of defeat and the absurd hope in imagining an alternative outcome. Every morning, the rock, every morning the roll and every morning the hope, always the hope, always the hope. Thats the art of it, of life, of it all. To persevere, to continue.
“'Paper Thin Walls' is about having your heart run over by someone who never really comes through.” - Terra Lightfoot
“. . . sharing it now is about what sharing art is always about: another chance that we may partake in connecting with our brothers and sisters of this world, and hopefully joining you in noticing a speck of light gleaming in what appears to be a relatively long and dark night.” - the Avett Brothers
“‘St. Augustine at Night’ is a song about one’s relationship to their hometown, but also is a song about the varying degrees in which we all watch our lives pass us by.” - Taylor Goldsmith, Dawes
