Dizzy release new single, Open Up Wide

Will McGuirk April 20, 2023

By Will McGuirk

Smart pop from the Dizzy, going from the serene bedroom pop of their first couple of albums to this -we’re live now so we ‘got to get the kids in front headbanging’ - anyway this should sort out anyone who thinks the Dizzy are softcore. They have a bunch of opportunities to get the kids headbanging coming up, including a headlining slot at Springtide in Uxbridge June 9 to 11, and at the downtown Kingston Spring Reverb June 1 to 4 2023. The band are currently working with producer David Pramik on a new album due in August.

“Evolution in and of itself is a patient act. Our pursuit of the individual self, which comprises all realms of human emotion, is sweetened with the intention and act of patience from ourselves, from those that we love and those who love us.” - Raphaelle Standell-Preston, Braids

“This song is mostly about how we're all just products of our youth; doomed in various ways none of us asked for.” - Katie Munshaw

Those dreamy-popsters Dizzy have released a new track, ‘Barking Dog’ - its a bit dark and the video directed by boy wonder, evokes similar vibes. Enjoy :)

Will McGuirk April 14, 2021

By Will McGuirk

Song goes out, if it loves you song comes back - Dizzy has a number of their songs go out and come back, flight filtered via ears and hearts of others. There is a timeline to the result, a succession of reveals, but first is Luna Li, the TO musician who shares this track, a behind the scenes look at “The Magician” with the band.

The tracks with other yet to be unveiled artists, will form an EP, ‘Separate Places’ and will be fully available June 11 on Royal Mountain/Communion Records.

The Oshawa, ON, based Dizzy have been nominated for Alternative Album of the Year at the 2021 Junos. for their record, “The Sun and Her Scorch.’

Band friends The Strumbellas and Dizzy get themselves back to the Garden

Will McGuirk February 26, 2019

By Will McGuirk

Oshawa’s loss is Hamilton’s gain - could apply to so much across all sectors but in this case its the Hammer which gets The Strumbellas’ fab-fancy folk picnic with Dizzy Saturday, July 6 2019. The big show takes place at The Arboretum at Royal Botanical Gardens., in HAMILTON! The Strumbellas are of course our Oshawa pal David Ritter (keys), and Simon Ward (vocals, acoustic guitar), Jeremy Drury (percussion), Isabel Ritchie (strings), Jon Hembrey (guitar) and Darryl James (bass). They have been building audiences and awards pretty much from the get go and will keep building when their new album, “Rattlesnake”, drops March 29. The strum-fest also features Dan Mangan and Donovan Woods and of course Juno nominees from Oshawa Dizzy and it is all presented by MRG (and I do believe there are a couple of few Shwakats in there too). Gates open at 3:00 p.m. All ages / 19+ areas / Free admission for children under 10 accompanied by an adult

Tickets available Friday March 1 ->
